A friend of mine gave me a big bag of fresh lemons, hand picked from her lemon tree in the backyard two weeks ago. No matter how hard I tried to use them in making myself and roommates honey lemon juice drinks, in cooking, and even as an acid to clean the hot water dispenser, half bag of the lemons still remains.
Today, I walked into my kitchen and opened the fridge. When I was still thinking of what to prepare for my dinner, I saw a piece of chicken breast storing inside the fridge. Bingo! An idea just came across my mind. Since I wanted to finish the lemons before they perish, I asked myself what else I can cook other than making a simple and tasty lemon chicken dish.

One of my favor party starters is Chinese egg roll. It is made by wrapping a combination of vegetables and meat in a sheet of dough, and then it is deep fried until golden brown. I love eating it since I was a kiddo. Well, I suppose everyone especially kids like the crispy food. I still remember my family always prepared this dish during the Chinese New Year. My sisters and I would help my mom to wrap the egg rolls, and then my mom would deep fry them. Believe it or not, I could finish up 20 egg rolls continuously in less than 10 minutes.
Since my home isn’t equipped with a fryer, it took me quite sometimes to deep fry all the rolls. For those with a fryer at home, you have advantage of doing this. Anyway, if you never try this recipe before, I personally recommend you to at least try making it once at home even you don’t have the fryer. Trust me, you will enjoy toward the last bite of the last roll!

Hey guys, party was over and it is time to get ready for accommodating the new year of 2010. Unfortunately, I had a minor problem so called “Party Aftermath” - leftover rice. How to deal with it? Porridge or fried rice? It has been a while since we made the Indonesian Fried Rice, so I decided to go for fried rice. This time I’ve prepare the Nasi Goreng Pattaya.
Nasi goreng pattaya, or simply nasi pattaya, is one of the common dishes around Malaysia which usually can be found at Malay hawker stalls. In Malay, nasi means rice and goreng means fry. So, you can name it Rice Pattaya as well. The name comes from Pattaya, Thailand. It is actually a chicken fried rice wrapped with fried egg and usually served with chili sauce and cucumber.

It was a lovely New Year weekend I had. Today would be the last day of holiday before heading back to work tomorrow and I decided to make the fried honey chicken for tonight dinner. It was one of those twenty plus dishes that my mom used to cook when she was an economic rice (杂饭) food hawker and I almost had it every weekend when I was helping her at her stand. Asparagus is very low in calorie and sodium as well as zero cholesterol. It can be prepared in a couple of simple ways, you can either blanch them in boiling water or simply pan grill them. You don’t want to cook too long, but just nice to keep it crisp and tender. That makes it a healthy vegetable dish.
Most of the time I will use the simple pan grilling method to prepare my asparagus with steak. But this time I have prepared them in more of an Asian style, Stir Fry Asparagus with Scallops.
