One of my favorite appetizers is the Deep Fried Taro Ball with Shrimp. I still remember when I was a kid, my mum always prepared this dish for my family. The taro ball is like a size of a golf ball, with a shrimp tucks inside it and leaving the tail outside forming like a curve drumstick. The taro ball is then deep fried till golden brown, it is crunchy on the outside with the crisp of the bread crumbs, but still tasted soft and sweet on the inside.
Well, it had been quite some time since the last time I had eaten this. I really can’t wait till my next hometown visit to have my mum making this again. So I called my mum to get the recipe and tried to to prepare this appetizer for the first time.

Our Thanksgiving Turkey dinner wouldn’t be completed without a delicious potato side dish, just like a hamburger combo without french fries, it just doesn’t feel right. However there are tons of potato dish, I couldn’t really decide which kind should I go for. Au Gratin is actually a popular food technique which can be used widely in preparing other foods such as vegetable, meat and others. Once you have learned to prepare au gratin technique, you can use it in other dishes as well.

One of the appetizers that I like to order when dining at “Olive Garden” (the Italian restaurant) is the “Stuffed Mushroom”. They have really good stuffed mushroom. I never thought that these ordinary and plain-looking white mushrooms can be tasted so good when they are cooked.
It is not difficult to prepare this savory dish once you have tried it for the first time. Since the mushrooms are stuffed with cheese and bread crumbs filling , it is recommended to serve them hot. You can prepare the stuffed mushrooms ahead of time and only start baking them 30 minutes before the party. I bet everyone will love it (except for those who don’t love cheese :P).
